Programs in Emerging Fields of Inquiry

Posted on Aug 14th, 2007 by TGI : Serving the Seekers TGI
Greetings!

The Graduate Institute offers five Master of Arts degree programs in emerging fields. Small learning communities of ten to twenty colleagues (students) meet together and engage in dialogue throughout the program.

Master of Arts in Conscious Evolution
Explores how consciousness relates to the human potential. The program is founded on the premise that, using our knowledge of the 14 billion year evolutionary process, we can begin to consciously affect the trajectory of human development. Within this context, colleagues engage with the moral, ethical, philosophical, spiritual, and creative challenges faced by our complex and globalizing world.

Master of Arts in Experiential Health and Healing
The program recognizes the interconnectivity of body, mind, spirit, and energy, as well as the profound impact that environmental factors, personal beliefs, and lifestyle choices can have on wellness. Participants explore a variety of allopathic, complementary, and alternative therapies, examining research on their efficacy and locating them within a continuum for integrative care. The program is "experiential" in that it provides opportunities for hands-on learning.

Master of Arts in Holistic Thinking
Explores the ways in which individuals think, learn, and create meaning. The program encourages colleagues to consider "how we know what we know" and to examine how beliefs, assumptions, and perceptions shape the experiences of individuals and societies. The program is ideal for anyone who is interested in overcoming the limitations of traditional thought patterns, and it is particularly useful for artists, scientists, and educators who are striving to translate epistemological meaning across the various disciplines, as it examines the relationship between the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences.

Master of Arts in Irenic Peace Studies
Irenic Studies, named in honor of the Greek goddess of peace, is a program that embraces the task of creating a peaceful and sustainable world. Participants explore peace-building techniques that may be applied in interpersonal, institutional, national, and international conflict transformation. The Irenic Studies program consists of three main components: examination of the theoretical foundations for peace and conflict studies; development of conflict transformation skills; and piloting of a community action intiative.

Master of Arts in Oral Traditions
Explores the profound impact of oral language on cultural development and personal psychology. Emphasis is placed on the ways in which oral language creates and transforms meaning. The program calls for integrative inquiry into anthropological history, psychology and sociology, mythology, and folklore, literative, and linguistics. The program is ideal for anyone interested in using storytelling as a motivational tool, in exploring the dynamics of culture and language, or in using oral traditions to build bridges within the community.

Who We Are

Posted on Mar 22nd, 2007 by TGI : Serving the Seekers TGI

The Graduate Institute is a small nonprofit school in Milford, in Southwestern Connecticut. We offer M.A. degrees in emerging fields of inquiry.

We are here to reach out to other members of the Zaadz community because our organization is a place for individuals to come together to find inspiration, explore new ideas and knowledge, and discover new ways to think more holistically and live more consciously.

One of our original graduate degree programs is The M.A. in Conscious Evolution. The faculty for this program includes great thinkers, researchers and educators in consciousness studies including Christian de Quincey, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Ervin Laszlo, Karl Pribram, Peter Russell and Eric Weiss.
